Read stories from some of our recent visitors.

Just returned from an absolutely amazing stay at Villa Hikaru in Jamaica. It is on the south non-touristy side of the island (bring dramamine for the car ride there!). The people are amazing. The cooks Vanessa and Elisha are astounding, and the groundskeeper Patrick takes so much pride is his work. They have all been there more than a decade. Kevin, our driver to/from the airport and for our excursions, was so helpful and knowledgeable. I cannot say enough about the food. It was so fantastic, authentic, flavorful. The ladies were amazing about accommodating food allergies in our group. We had no idea this was going to be a foodie trip, but it definitely was!

We will definitely be going back!

Spectacular Property and Staff, I’m going back!!!

From the pickup to the breakfast, to the dinner, deserts, pool, everyone was awesome at providing everything we needed. Food was exactly what we expected and privacy was par none as the beach front access is better than all other properties in the area.

Get on a boat and ride the cost you won’t regret it.

Beautiful Property, Perfect Vacation!

Villa Hikaru is an amazing property! The villa is beautiful – open air, thoughtfully decorated, and well-kept. Most of the living area is outdoors with a living room and 4 bedrooms opening to the main outdoor living space. Two of the bedrooms have doors that open directly outside to this space. The other two bedrooms have a small connecting space with one door that opens to the outside. Meals were served at the large table in the outdoor space and the lounge chairs here were perfect for relaxing with a view of the ocean. The breeze kept this area comfortable even during the hottest afternoons. (While the mosquitos weren’t terrible, there were a few around and we were glad to have bug spray.)

The staff was incredible. Vanesia and Elesha worked with us to set a Jamaican menu that our families would enjoy. The meals were excellent and really made the experience of staying at the Villa! We appreciated trying their specialties and enjoyed chatting with them about what they were making. We were truly spoiled by the food and service. Patrick does an excellent job of keeping up the property and assuring everything is in order. He shared his knowledge of the area and the plants on the property and helped the kids pick mangos and find coconuts to drink from.

There are several areas great for enjoying views of the ocean and the gardens on the property. The pool gets some shade throughout the day and the shaded lounge area by the pool is nice to have. We loved being able to play tennis on the oceanfront tennis court, though anyone going to play should be aware that there is a slope to the court and the surface is rough. It’s a great amenity that we had a lot of fun with but would not be a good fit for anyone who takes their game too seriously. The beach is quiet and the water crystal clear. The shallow area just outside of the villa’s gates is somewhat protected and provides a calm place for kids to swim.

Villa Hikaru is remote and far from the touristy areas. (The 2.5+ hour drive from Montego Bay is on rough, winding, and narrow roads.) This is absolutely part of the charm. This quiet fishing community is welcoming of visitors but it is not a community that was built for tourism. There are a very limited number of small shops, bars, and restaurants. We loved the fresh fish and lobster at Eggy’s, a very small spot on the beach. Everyone we met was friendly and welcoming. We could not have asked for a better experience or a more beautiful location!

Great Villa, Great Staff

We could not have been happier with our stay at Villa Hikaru! Everything was terrific. The home and property are even prettier than the pictures. The staff were very nice and professional. The food was really good. I highly recommend Villa Hikaru.

Charming Villa with lots to do.

My family wanted a change of scenery (being stuck at home for the year), away from the crowds during the Pandemic. This Villa is on a very private beach with a large yard.

My husband and I loved the 50ft lap pool and walking on the beach. In front of the villa the beach is very shallow and good for small children, but a short walk down, you have a large area of water up to your neck, and is good for swimming.

In the evenings, we enjoyed lounging in the funky mid-century loggia. This makes for a perfect place to relax, read or just look at the ocean or take an outdoor nap. At nights, the boys enjoyed the garden deck, with large picnic table and benches and also a comfortable sofa . They played bocce at nights and tennis during the days. There were many other outdoor games, that we wished we had time to try.

Dinner time was special and we enjoyed the meals provided by Venesia and Elesha. The grounds were well kept by the resident gardener Patrick. I was so impressed with their eagerness to assist in any way possible. We cooked up a storm and finished the charcoal and needed more to make out grilled lobster. Rebecca went out of her way on a Sunday, to get us some even though we said we would do without.

Overall, we all had a lovely time, and will return soon.

Perfect mid century modern ocean villa with incredible staff and cuisine!

First, let’s talk about the staff. The cooks preparing your breakfast and dinner can out cook any of the restaurants we visited. Everything was so fresh whether it was from the ocean or the tropical trees. The fresh fish and shellfish were only hours from the ocean and AMAZING! Each day the pool is cleaned early in the morning, all the sidewalks and steps are swept, your beds are made and turn down at night. Yes, they spoil you. The staff couldn’t be nicer and I recommend spending some time visiting with them. The photos of this ocean villa do not do it justice. Perfect location for a group of friends or family vacationing together. The common area is a spacious living room with French doors overlooking the even larger veranda that is steps from the ocean. The bedrooms, off the veranda, are spacious, beautifully decorated, and each have an outdoor shower off of its private bathroom. If all this wasn’t enough, there were private areas scattered throughout the estate to enjoy a book or grab some me time. The beach is quite private as we only saw some local kids snorkeling in the reef and occasionally playing soccer. There is a mix of sandy beach and reef so there is plenty to keep you entertained. The few times that the ocean was too rough to swim we used the lap pool. A short distance away there are some small local dining spots that are worth visiting. The booking agent for this villa also arranged a boat tour of the Black River and a car to take us to local scenic points. This place is an incredible value as we have never had a more beautiful place to stay or better food and yet paid less then we have on previous vacations.

A Shining Example of Hospitality and Tranquility

My family and I recently spent a magical week at Villa Hikaru – hosted by the wonderful Patrick, Vanesia, Nadine and Elesha. Fantastic food (we opted for a traditional Jamaican menu and everything was truly delicious), amazing accommodation (even better than the pictures) and fantastic location right on the beach. The team at Treasure Tours (Rebecca, Debbian and Amanda) were also super friendly and welcoming and went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed. We will remember our week here forever and are already talking about returning as soon as we can. I can’t recommend Hikaru highly enough. We will be back! Duncan and family

Paradise!

I spent a wonderful relaxing week with a group at the villa this February. The minute I saw the Treasure Beach fishing boat on the side of the road I knew I was entering a magical place and immediately felt a sense of peace. Treasure Tours took care of everything. All of our arrangements from the rides to and from the airport, groceries for the week, tours and taxi rides were flawless. Kudos to Rebecca and her team! They work hard to make sure everything is on point and were just a phone call away if we needed anything. Our rides were always there on time (most of the time they were early!) and the drivers were very professional. The villa was very clean and comfortable with many seating areas from which to enjoy the ocean views. Not once did I use my room air conditioning, enjoying the ocean breeze at night. Every morning, the hummingbirds visited the many beautiful flowers located on the property. The staff was wonderful. They were very accommodating and friendly. The food was excellent! We enjoyed lobster, coconut shrimp, Ackee, fried chicken, festival, pumpkin rice and many other delicious Jamaican delicacies. Fresh fruits and freshly squeezed orange juice was served every morning with breakfast. The beach was peaceful and I took many walks on the beach, feeling safe while doing so. The hut down by the beach was a treat! I would recommend the villa to anyone who wants a peaceful vacation in a quaint, friendly, safe, seaside area. I would definitely vacation here again.

Perfection on Jamaica’s South Coast

My second visit to the Villa Hikaru in Treasure Beach was just as stellar as the first. The villa and gardens are simply stunning, the food is delicious, then the vibes are chill. The location cannot be beat, right on the best part of Billy’s Bay beach. Patrick, Elesha and Nadine took great care of us and we can’t wait to go back to see them next year for another perfect, relaxing vacation.

Paradise on Billy’s Bay!

My husband and I have been to Treasure Beach 4 times and this is our 2nd year in a row staying at Villa Hikaru. 4 out of 8 of us are returning and 2 new friends are experiencing Treasure Beach for the first time. My husband and I are becoming regulars and always look forward to sharing this quiet paradise with others. Treasure Tours always makes planning our group vacation as simple as possible and the staff at Hikaru takes it from there. The prepared meals are to die for, our rooms are just perfect, the grounds are very well maintained. These are the “basics” every traveler comes to expect, what they don’t imagine is becoming a part of the family and community! The conversations, laughing and teasing, attention to details, fresh poolside coconuts, meeting their family members….it goes on and on. This is not a crowded, tourist-filled resort area. It is a SAFE, quiet fishing and farming community that takes pride in welcoming vacationers and including them in their true Jamaican culture and lifestyle. All that you do during your stay directly supports their community and that’s a great feeling! I could write forever, but I think it’s better for you to experience Treasure Beach and Villa Hikaru yourself, you will not be disappointed!!

There is no place like Villa Hikaru!

Our group of eight adults had the most amazing week at Villa Hikaru. The location and accommodations are unmatched and everything from pre-arrival through departure was outstanding. The Treasure Tours staff were friendly and helpful during the booking process. Our guests count kept changing and it was no problem for them to adjust the plans and payments. About a week before we arrived we corresponded about the food and menu. Every email was prompt and included all the answers we needed. It is always a little nerve-wracking to set up a reservation somewhere you’ve never been and pay thousands of dollars in advance but the outstanding customer service calmed any doubts we had. When we arrived at the villa the staff were friendly and welcoming. Their kindness only grew throughout our stay. Venesia and Elesha cooked the most amazing meals. We were not picky about the menu and said we wanted to try all the cook’s specialties. We were treated to breakfast feasts of omelets, pancakes, ackee, toast, bacon, fresh-squeezed orange juice, fruit platters and more. For dinner, we devoured fried chicken, coconut shrimp, lobster, curried goat, escovitch fish, rice and peas, vegetables and more. There was always a little sweet treat for dessert too. The women cooked breakfast and dinner but there were plenty of leftovers so we could raid the refrigerator for afternoon snacks. We spent our days swimming in the pool, wading in the ocean and relaxing in the many different seating areas. In the evening we played games, enjoyed some beers and listened to the waves. Patrick was around every day keeping the grounds beautiful and checking up on us. He never tired of answering our questions about Jamaican culture, food, plants, wildlife, history, etc. We loved getting to know him and learning about his life in Treasure Beach. One afternoon we were ambitious and walked the two miles to Jack Sprat’s bar. It was fun to see the center of town but we had everything we could want at the villa and hardly left again. We used the four bedrooms in the main building and the one bedroom cottage out front. The rooms were contemporary, clean and comfortable. Each room had its own bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. Three of the showers were outdoors with large rainfall showerheads. We loved rinsing off with a beautiful view of the oceans. This vacation will be hard to top but if we could change anything, it would be the depth of the ocean. The water only goes up to about your waist before there is a rocky reef that spans the length of the beach. You would need sturdy water shoes to get over it and find the deeper water (Assuming the water is safe for swimming that day. Patrick would be the guide for that.). While we missed getting dunked in the ocean, the pristine water and sand more than made up for the lack of depth.

Amazing Jamaican Jewel!

We had our first tropical family Christmas vacation at Villa Hikaru. Everything about this experience was amazing! The staff greeted us on Christmas Eve and surprised us with a delicious lobster dinner. Vanesia and Elesha prepared delectable Jamaican breakfasts and dinners, as we requested a Jamaican menu. They made our whole family feel welcome and pampered. Patrick, the groundskeeper is a wealth of knowledge of the area’s offerings and was awesome with our grandchildren.

I can’t say enough about the beauty of the villa and grounds. We enjoyed the pool, beach, and tennis courts, along with the tranquil vibe all around us. There were so many cozy hideaways on the property, both inside and out.

Treasure Tours arranged our comfortable transportation from the airport and back, as well as a couple excursions we went on. Their attention to detail was much appreciated.

I highly recommend this property, especially for those who are looking to unplug and rejuvenate! We would love to return to Villa Hikaru.

Everything you want in a Spectacular Setting

Our family reunion over Thanksgiving was perfect. The rooms at Hikaru are just right with elegant design, locally built furniture, slatted/screened windows with wonderful fans (and A/C if inclined but we did not need it). Private outdoor showersThe central dining table has one of the most stunning views I have ever found to eat with bright bougainvillea draping in front of you just under your eyes to the sea. There were 9 of us and plenty of room for everyone. My mother in law loved the little cottage just remodeled 30 feet from the main entrance. The meals at Hikaru are Jamaican gourmet (our preference to eat the local cuisine such as jerk chicken and plantain), flexible and even better prepared and served by two extraordinary women, Elisha and Vaneesha, who we all enjoyed immensely. They accommodated my dietary restrictions with a smile. There are many gorgeous sitting areas throughout to read, take in the view or just have some private time.

I loved walking the property with the carefully and beautifully designed plantings by my new friend Patrick, the caretaker/gardener who was more than happy to show me around and procure a coconut for us to sip the sweet water. The steps lead down the hill to the the lap pool (50 feet!) which we indeed used, as well as the tennis court with the prettiest view of any on which I have played. The beach directly below finds scalloped bays in either direction, and a barrier coral reef just offshore. Patrick can show you where to snorkel on a calm day. The swimming was an excellent cool down, and the local boys playing there were so friendly! A very short walk leads one way to a fishing village, and the other to a very small boutique hotel that sits on a bluff; a nice spot for a little lunch away if you wish.

I was struck by how welcoming everyone in Treasure Beach and at Hikaru were to all of our family. One man said “We are like a big family ourselves as we all know each other.” I would recommend using Treasure Tours for transportation as there is not much need to leave while you are there.

I thought about anything that I would change at Hikaru, and I came up with just wanting to go back, sip the rum punch and watch the sunset again.

A retro gem in Billy’s Bay!

Apparently one of the first villas in the area, it has been smartly renovated to maintain that retro 60’s feel so it feels authentic with personality, with the comforts of modern day (wifi, air conditioning). The property is expansive with beautiful gardens in keeping with the Treasure Beach vibe, including a stunning golden poinsienna tree. While there’s lots of places to hang out on the property, the cabana area is really the most comfortable– perfect place to read, nap, or look out at the ocean with a drink. The rooms are comfortable, but the outdoor showers are really unique. One has a fabulous view of the ocean. A short walk down to the beach– and the best swimming area is right in front of the villa. Most times you have the beach all to yourself– the public access is right beside the villa, so sometimes you’re treated to sharing the beach with locals. A short walk on the beach leads you to a restaurant with a pool and a great view — if you feel like leaving the villa (not that you need to!). This villa would be ideal for larger groups of 6+. We’ll be back with friends! Note: this property has a lot of steps– to access the pool and beach. Would be difficult for those with limited mobility.

I think it’s as fine as any vacation I’ve ever had

The house of course is wonderful, and even more remarkable are the people you have found to take care of your guests. They made us feel that we were welcome in Jamaica, and treated us with such generosity and kindness; we ate so well, were entertained so well, slept so well, played so happily that we’ll never be the same again.

I’m sad that in spite of Patrick’s fervent devotion, the English soccer team won’t be in the final game. He took our grandson Max (age 14) to watch games, which was surely beyond the call of duty, and he greeted me early every morning as he watered the lovely gardens around the house. He arranged with his nephew Terry to take us to the Black River and to be careful of my stiffening limbs helping me in and out of his beautiful boat. His attentions were surpassed only by the unflagging efforts of Venesia and Elesha to introduce us to all the best of Jamaican cuisine.

And of course I don’t know how to express adequately the gratitude we feel to you and Raynard, for sharing your jewel. I hope you are yourselves going to be there before too long.

5 Star Amazingness All Around

Villa Hikaru exceeded all of my expectations. The villa itself is so beautifully designed, it has many spots to hang out in alone or as a group. It is spotlessly cleaned and I loved the very Instagram friendly decor and views. It is truly a magical place. Very quiet and private. The staff is just wonderful, Venesia, Elesha and Patrick and everyone at Treasure Tours took great care of us. The food was so so good. Treasure Beach is a must-go for me every Spring and I look forward to returning again next year.

Beautiful oceanfront retreat

Words can’t fully describe this incredible gem. The Villa has a great floor plan with so many areas to sit, each with a unique “feel” to them, yet all so beautiful and relaxing. We thought, at first, that we wouldn’t like the pool being away from the house, but this turned out to be one of our favorite things about the villa. I mean, how can you complain when your pool is steps away from the ocean?! This also helped to work off the massive amounts of the most incredible food consumed over 7 days. Vanessa and Elisha had their work cut out for them, feeding 8 very hearty appetites and boy did they step up to the challenge! They’ve never seen so much food consumed by guests and each meal won 5 stars by our group! Patrick was a treat, too, always hearing him singing as he took care of the grounds and bringing us fresh coconuts all week, telling stories and introducing us to his grand daughter. He also joined us at the Singing Chef, providing us with songs while we dined, boy he sure loves to sing! I have to say, the staff is now considered part of our family. We shared some special, at times spiritual, moments with them and we can’t thank them enough for making this amazing trip with our friends one truly incredible memory. We look forward to seeing everyone again and thank you for all that you did for us and with us.

Wonderful Stay and Great Staff

I have nothing but positive reviews for this villa. The staff were amazing and the food, oh my the food was just excellent. If you like to get away from the touristy area and just relax in tranquilly this is the place for you.

Jamaican Paradise…look no further

Hikaru is a Jamaican paradise. The house is spacious, charming, and brilliantly designed with many wonderful outdoor spaces throughout the property. The staff is super; very friendly and caring. Hikaru provides a very local experience from the home cooked food which provide you with a treasure tour of Jamaican cuisine to the wonderful locals you encounter on the beach and at the nearby restaurant a short walk down the beach (however, skipping a home cooked meal from this staff makes going out a serious dilemma!). This place provides a very nice diversity of activities from the spacious pool, to the tennis and bocce courts, to the direct access to the beach. You won’t want to leave once you arrive. And, don’t forget the unforgettable sunsets! Every night we enjoyed a rum punch on the beach in front of the property watching the sun set. The photos you see on the website are just a teaser. The place is better than advertised!!!

Incredible Island Getaway

We stayed at Hikaru between Christmas and New Years and it was the most incredible week. Eleshia and Vaneshia were incredibly attentive and Rebecca checked on us several times and arranged some trips for us. We felt right at home with the entire staff and by the end of the week we felt like they were part of our family. Patrick, the groundskeeper was amazing and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. We loved getting to know him and the ladies of the house as well. Our kids, ages 18, two 7 year olds, and a 3 year old, allade friends with the locals and were immediately accepted by the locals, who played with and went out of their way to include our kids in their fun. The house was perfect and lovely in every way. We had so much fun swimming in the gorgeous pool and the beach was perfect. We had incredible breakfasts and dinners each day outdoors overlooking the sea. The ladies made every effort to make our meals special and nice and we loved eating in and being treated like family. The rooms are all beautiful and comfortable and the outside showers were a real treat. We cannot ever fully explain how amazing our time at Villa Hikaru was, but they are memories that will last a lifetime. Our kids loved every minute of this trip and my husband and I were left totally enchanted by the lovely home, but even more by the sweet and wonderful people we met. This is an all around dream trip!

Wonderful time in Treasure Beach

What a beautiful villa and wonderful staff! I can not wait to go back!

Impressively relaxing

I loved staying at Hikaru. The accommodation was well laid out and there were lots of areas to relax in. We were there to attend my father’s funeral nearby so needless to say it was a stressful time for our family, however Hikaru was the perfect sanctuary with the atmospheric sounds of the sea just at the end of the property, the immaculate pool, peaceful gardens and friendly locals. The staff were very kind and helpful as well providing amazing food and caring lovingly for the living space. I was there with my husband, son, 4 nephews and a couple of adult cousins over the period of our stay.

Perfect place to unwind and rejuvenate

If you want a place where you can unplug from the day-to-day hustle and bustle, Villa Hikaru will help you forget about it all. From reconnecting with nature by walking on the private beach just steps away, being lulled to sleep by the sounds of waves while relaxing on the chaise on the veranda, and lots of comfortable areas to curl-up and take in the breathtaking views; our family enjoyed every moment. We woke up every morning to the smell of a delicious breakfast spread that was only topped by a fantastic dinner. The staff are fabulous cooks and their warm hearts made us feel right at home. The bed and bath rooms are immaculately cleaned as well as beautifully decorated; and it is hard not to notice all of the design details. However, I guarantee you will not spend much time in them. You’ll much rather be outside soaking in the peace and tranquility or watching the beautiful sunset.

Home Away From Home in Paradise

Our first steps into Villa Hikaru took our breath away. As we walked into the colorfully and stylishly appointed villa and onto the terrace, we were greeted by the warmth of the ocean breeze and a stunning view of the sea. Our sense of wonder never left us during our week-long trip. The staff doted on us with such affection that we felt like long-lost family members. We dined on fresh and unfailingly delicious Caribbean delights each day. We spent hours frolicking in the well-maintained L-shaped lap pool. We soaked in the sun on the serene and quiet beach that lies just at the foot of Hikaru. The house itself is stunning – immaculate, comfortable, spacious, and filled with vibrant, creative design elements that were in full harmony with the natural beauty of Jamaica. The outdoor showers were a particularly luxurious treat. Villa Hikaru is such as treasure – the perfect place for anyone in search of an authentically-Caribbean and truly restorative vacation.

Villa Hikaru: a Treasure in Treasure Beach

What a glorious place–and the villa truly feels like a home! A great alternative to big resorts set in the secluded community of Treasure Beach. Inside and out, the house is spectacular yet relaxing. The views of the beach and ocean are stunning; the stretch of beach the property borders is large but not crowded and the area for swimming is well protected by reef rocks which provide amazing views of colorful fish. We went on several memorable walks up the rocky coast making it back in time for the gorgeous sunsets.

It’s such a treat to wake up to the sound of the waves in Villa Hikaru. The bedrooms are relaxing and tastefully-furnished, and we loved the attached outdoor showers. The living room and covered terrace are perfect places to spend part of the afternoon or evening playing games, socializing or reading. We enjoyed both the lap pool and tennis court, and the grounds are well maintained, with lovely, local trees and plants throughout.

The staff are a treasure – friendly and helpful. Vaneesha and Elisha prepared wonderful Jamaican food – fresh seafood and Blue Mountain coffee – that we have been missing dearly. Patrick, the gardener, brought our son a fresh coconut for his birthday. Meals are served on the veranda overlooking the water. Each of the six or so restaurants we found in Treasure Beach served tasty, reasonably priced food and we enjoyed the local boutiques. In sum, we’d love to return and would highly recommend Villa Hikaru to anyone wanting to visit Jamaica.

Fell In love with Hikaru

The 8 of us were lucky enough to stay at Villa Hikaru for Christmas week, 2016. We were the first guests after the wonderful renovation. Although we never saw the property pre renovation, it is certainly spectacular now! The beach, grounds, pool, tennis court, and staff are wonderful. The 8 adults were very comfortable and all fell in love with Treasure Beach and Villa Hikaru. The sunsets, outdoor showers, and wonderful food prepared by Venecia and Elisha made for a very special and relaxing week. The grounds and pool are even more beautiful than the pictures indicate. The groundskeeper, Patrick, takes pride in his work and results are impressive. Treasure Beach and Billy’s Bay provide an authentic Jamaican experience.

Grandmas getaway

This was the most relaxing place to stay ever. We had total seclusion with our own pool and seaside beach. The ladies cooked our meals, grocery shopped and cleaned up after us. Patrick the groundsman was perfect in every way. He booked us a tour to Pelican Bar which you can only get to by boat. And our captain and crew were the best. He made sure we got to tour a small bit by getting us a taxi ride to where we wanted to go (about 4 miles total) as we didn’t want to go very far. He also made sure we were supplied with all the necessities of Jamica and was always there to check on us. Rebecca did an excellent job in getting us to and from the airport, a massage therapist and visited us every other day. The Treasure Tour Team made us feel very welcome upon our arrival. Keys, spirits, food, all necessary items needed to make our stay was provided. The pool was cleaned daily and the beach was within walking distance. If you want a really laid back vacation this is the place. We will be back in 2018 to see the upgrades to be done and of course hoping some of the retro will stay. Villa Hikaru is a very special place

Here are the reasons to come to Hikaru: gorgeous view of the beach, a perfect, private pool, Ms. Vanesha, Ms. Elisha and Mr. Patrick (the house staff who are warm, talented, and generous), a complete lack of tourists and a wonderful taste of real Jamaica. We came with 3 of our kids (ages 10, 16 and grown), son-in-law and baby grandson. There was plenty of room for all of us, and we were well taken care of by the staff: Mr. Patrick giving us fresh coconuts from the tree by the beach and Ms. Vanesha and Elisha cooking really amazing food (be sure to get the lobsters!) and keeping everything clean. It’s like living on your own private beach resort. On cook’s night out, we went out to Egge’s and watched the sunset while eating curried conch, while our youngest 2 played hide and seek on the beach with a big bunch of kids. Took a day trip to YS Falls and the Appleton Rum Estate, with one of the drivers from Treasure Tours, and that was lots of fun. We can’t wait to go back!

A 3rd amazing experience at Hikaru

This was our 3rd trip to Villa Hikaru with our 2 kids (ages 5 and 7). We’ve traveled extensively in many parts of the world and Hikaru has come to be our “go to” place for restful family vacations. The set up is ideal for us. Our kids love exploring the property; they find “secret” spots in the garden, spend long days at the pool and building sand castles. The staff are wonderful people and the food is delicious. For us it is the ideal family vacation spot. The slow pace, incredibly beautiful scenery, and “off the beaten track” feel make for restful and joyful days together. We can’t wait to go back.

Hidden Gem in Jamaica

We had a beautiful time during our stay at Villa Hikaru. Ms. Elesha, Ms. Vanesha, and Mr. Patrick were warm, considerate, and welcoming. They made sure our every need was met and made accommodations to make the delicious meals based on our specific dietary needs (vegetarian and gluten-free). The villa has been beautifully renovated to transform it to a luxurious space with beautiful shapes, designs and colors while maintaining its cozy and relaxing ambience. The beach is only a few steps away. If you wake up early enough, you can greet the friendly fishermen and watch them sail away for their daily catch. The spacious porch, the pool, beautifully designed lower terrace and the open showers are all great spots to catch the sunset.

Great place for your next trip!

We had a lovely time in Villa Hikaru. The beach is wonderful and you’ll see beautiful sunsets. The house itself is fantastic. It is totally renovated, has great views and beautiful spaces for dining, reading, or just hanging out in the cabana. On top of it you get a pool and a tennis court. Finally, the staff – Ms. Vanesha, Ms. Elisha and Mr. Patrick – make you feel right at home with their delicious meals.

A true treasure indeed

This house and the lovely ladies are the true treasure in Treasure Beach. The house is wow in every way and there is not one fault I could find. The lovely ladies who keep the house so beautifully clean and cook the most special food are the true representation of old world Jamaica and the essence of what I fell in love with in this dear country 30 years ago. If you love good style, beautiful views, walking on the beach, swimming in the perfect temp pool, playing tennis or cards, and eating super delicious food then this is the place for you.

Paradise in Jamaica

Hikaru was the BEST place to stay in Jamaica. It is part of the Community Tourism approach of Treasure Beach – an area free of all-inclusive resorts where tourists can mingle with locals in a way that enriches your experience as well as supports the local community, keeping crime and harassment lower than any other part of Jamaica. We enjoyed drinks or dining out at some of the many local eating establishments in the area, as well as playing soccer with the kids on the beach. The villa itself is perfectly located right on (literally steps from the house) a quiet and private stretch of beach. Though not very deep (about waist high), the sandy beach is constantly protected by the reef and so is swimmable even when conditions are rough and has really outstanding snorkeling. The grounds of the house are amazing – full of flowers and views – and the gardener Patrick has wonderful insight and history to share. Our multi-generational family of 7 (from age 10 to almost 80) found many ways to enjoy time at this home – from swimming in the ocean or the immaculate pool, walking the beach, playing tennis, or just playing games or lounging in one one of the many shady and beautiful spots with ocean view, breeze, and sounds: the lower thatched hut, pool-side bed, middle deck lounging couch, upper deck table, and even the rooms and central house. We especially enjoyed fabulous Jamaican breakfasts and dinners prepared for us by most excellent cooks Vaneesha and Elisha (no restaurant compared to their skill) eaten at the big table on the upper deck. The kitchen was spacious and clean and allowed us to prepare our own lunches or snacks from food bought at the grocery just steps from the house, or Black River (about 45 min drive), or fruit stands we encountered along the way there from Kingston. The rooms are all so serenely and cleanly decorated (great batik textiles from a local Treasure Beach shop), and the outdoor showers (connected to 3 out of the 4 rooms) are sublime. Rebecca and her team were incredibly helpful with ANYthing that arose – a plumbing issue, internet access, need to visit a doctor – all were handled with *immediate* helpfulness and professionalism. Be sure to check out the book “Near A Far Sea: A Jamaican Odyssey” written by the first owner who built the house in 1973 – it was a pleasure to read, while also enjoying the recent and extensive renovations that made this place truly gorgeous and ready for more visitors.

Perfect Repose on a Bluff Above the Caribbean With A Stunning View

We loved sitting in the outdoor living room following with our eyes the paths of butterflies along the bougainvillea cascading toward that beautiful turquoise sea. We think it is the best view in Treasure Beach! The staff was excellent and we learned a lot from Mister Patrick.
The pool was wonderful as you can really use it to swim and it was great having the fun of playing tennis. Some members of our party used the court every day.

Beautiful Treasure Beach villa with amazing pool, staff and beachfront access

I stayed at Villa Hikaru before the renovation and was impressed with the location. Now with the designer renovation this is the property to beat in the area. The staff makes you feel like you are cared for and every meal is delicious. The new outdoor showers are heavenly. The “lightbox cabana” was my favorite for hanging out with friends for hours or my afternoon nap. The pool was great for laps and fun several times a day, if you can resist the ocean only a few steps away. I will return again and again and again….

Villa Hikaru is Treasure Beach at its finest.

Our family of 10 with ages from 20 months to 70 years had a magical time

Our family consisting of my husband and I, our two children, their spouses, and four children ages 20 months, 22 months, 3 years, and 6 years wanted a place to have a family reunion and to get a shot of sunshine in the middle of Winter. We could not have asked for a more perfect place for our reunion for all ages. The scenery was beautiful, the plantings inspiring, the rooms so comfortable, and the staff so welcoming and attentive. There was plenty of fun activities for everyone at our fingertips- a lovely veranda for reading and sunning, a 4 ft. lap pool where our 6 year old learned to swim and the other small ones could play, a lovely beach with a shallow area for swimming and plenty of sand for sand castle building, a tennis court perfect for beginners, even a croquet set, and a picturesque gazebo on the beach where there was always shade and a breeze. The climate was perfect with sunny and dry temperatures of about 85 every day. We loved the fact that we were actually in a fishing village and got to know some of the warm and friendly local people. There were lots of nearby trips to interesting areas which would have been fun to explore if our children were not so young. But our family just enjoyed staying right at Hikaru with only one trip into Treasure Beach and a hike up into the local mountains with Patrick who was part of the staff. The only challenging thing for us was the fact that it takes 2 1/2 hours to drive from Montego Bay over the mountains on two lane bumpy roads to Treasure Beach. We brought the kids car seats and fortunately hired the recommended Treasure Tours. Kevin was our driver and he was excellent having traveled these roads many times each week. This was a trip of a life time which our family will never forget. We hope to be able to return in the near future.
